HELLO MISTER | YOU ROCK | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative friends,

Back with you today to share another Cocoa Vanilla Studios layout, this time of the other ‘Mr’ in my life, my cat!  We have had Ferris for just under a year now and he makes our whole house happy!  I decided to create a page that celebrates a milestone for him… his ability to jump up to the top of our 8-foot fence.  He loves sitting up there watching the world go by.

I started the page knowing I wanted to use the sentiment “Hello Mister” as my title.  I love love love the ‘Random’ paper with all the cut apart elements, so practical!!  I had also planned on using a large cut file star shape in my background so I felt it was important to place the title, star and photo first as those 3 large elements would make up the design for the page.  I liked how the ‘Starshine’ paper contrasted really well with the white star shape so went with that for my background.  To compliment my bold blue and white, I have also added some yellow highlights which began with the stitching around the star design.  I pull more of this yellow into the design with the enamel shapes later on.
For my photo mat, I’ve used the ‘Night Sky’ paper and the ‘Plus One’ paper.   I love how the ‘Plus One’ paper perfectly matches the wood print in my title and will compliment the other wood veneer elements I knew I would soon add.  To break up the white space of the star, I have chosen small pieces of the washi stickers layered in with some other fussy cut patterns.  Next, I needed to add the second part of my title “Fence Sitter”… I’ve used the Totally Rad Alphabet Stickers – they go so well and a simple font I have cut on my Silhouette which has been cut out of the ‘Stripped’ paper.
Time to add in lots of little bits and pieces to round out the design.  I started with the Wood Veneer pieces pulling out 3 stars.  I then found a coordinating star flair badge which I felt worked really well.  Next, how could I not add one of the Rubber Charms? (loving these).

I also added some word phrases from the Accessory Sticker sheet and a few little elements from the Die Cut Ephemera pack.  Lucky last, I added in the enamel shapes and the page was done!
I have so enjoyed using this collection, I think it is so easy to work with (even for this self-confessed girl scrapper!!)  I think my next challenge might be to make a girl page with it… maybe I could mix and match some collections and see what I come up with… stay tuned!
Until next time
Gwen
