YOU & ME | CUT TO YOU

Hi Creative Friends,

Thanks for popping by.  I have a new share for today, this one using another one of my CUT to YOU Cut files.  I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this before, this one has to be one of my all time favourites so far!  I love how big it is (yes, this is how large it comes if you are a CUSTOM CUT purchaser) and how open and soft and pretty the flowers are.  Perfect to team with some soft mixed media, in the form of Distress Oxide inks.

I started the page by colouring the cut file with the Oxide Inks. I’ve used a combination of Worn Lipstick, Fossilized Amber and a touch of Spiced Marmalade.  It’s a lovely soft and warm colour combination.  I used the packaging technique on the cut file and a generous amount of water.  I didn’t gesso or prime the cut file before applying the inks, but I think I would next time, simply because I did add a lot of water.

I then planned out the design of my page, just roughly to get an idea of where I wanted to place the mixed media on my background.  I’ve used Bazzil Marshmallow cardstock for this.  Once that was decided, I added a small amount of the ink on to some packaging and applied to the background.  I then pulled out a palette and made up some ‘watercolours’ of each of the colours and splattered them all over!  I just love the tone on tone achieved here, super pretty!

A friend had gifted me some Felicity Jane goodies a while back and to date, I had only created one project with them.  There were quite a lot of smaller pieces of paper to use up so I thought it would be a neat idea to add some as paper strips. I’ve created a cluster at the top of my page and a larger one at the bottom.

I’ve placed my photo on to a piece of Cocoa Vanilla pattern paper and some more of the Felicity Jane papers to create a stack and then added my cut file.  I’ve then placed this on my page.  I’ve added my title with Felicity Jane letters.  Embellishments used and some old Maggie Holmes Crate Paper buttons – these are from 2014 so I know I bought them as soon as they came out, so it was good to get them on a page, some wood veneer, paper bows made with a die and some American Crafts chipboard brackets – these brackets are older than the buttons!!! #stashbustingatitsbest

I just love love love how this turned out, I love that you can use a fresh new cut file that is really quite inexpensive and create a beautiful page with it.  I love that this new product in my stash can easily be mixed with much older supplies to get them used up!

If you don’t already know, all of my designs are available as Downloadable files as well as Custom Cut files for those ladies who don’t own a Silhouette machine.  I will personally cut them for you at HQ and ship anywhere in AUS/NZ.  Visit the website www.createdbygwen.com.au for more info.
