"Sweet – loveable you" for D-lish Scraps

Happy Thursday creative friends,

Here today to share with you a layout of my sister and daughter on a recent girls day out.

The idea for this layout started with the the background spotty paper and an outline of a heart I had cut on my Silhouette.  I don’t often use big bold shapes like this one however I have been seeing a lot of layouts with large hearts of late and wanted to give one a go… AND I love how it tuned out!

To create my flower clusters, I have used some layered fussy cut paper flowers and then added the Fantasy Blooms to the top to finish it all off.  I love how dimensional these are and the pop of the pink was perfect for this layout.

I have also used glitter dots which were in the perfect shade to match the flower.  You can also see where I have placed the paint chip tab and a 5×7 paper baggie – these are two of my favourite D-lish supplies.

For my third pop of pink to round out the layout, the Sequin Bow was the perfect choice and of course I’ve added some stitching too.
One last close up, this one of my title, the perfect sized wood veneer word “sweet” – I love the tone in these veneer so I tend to leave them natural.
You can also see the wood veneer hearts I’ve used and what layout would be complete without adding a D-lish doiley!

"Pretty in Pink" for D-lish Scraps – March Inspiration Board

Hi Everyone,

Here today to share the March inspiration board over at D-lish scraps and isn’t it just divine?

The girls and I were discussing and apparently there are people out there that don’t like pink?? Can you believe that?  For me, Pink is my all time favourite, especially baby pink and it was so fun to create with it for this project.

I started the page with the white background and the Cocoa Vanilla ‘XOXO’ cut file elements.  After deciding their position I added some misting and adding Shimmerz using the packaging technique.  Once I was happy I stitched the pieces in place.
Next, I added the vintage lace to the top with some machine stitching.  I began work on my photo mat which I have anchored from the top of the lace.

I’ve added in a stack of D-lish Scraps bits and pieces and lots of paper layers too.

Here you can see the veneer frame I’ve added to my paper layers, which I’ve painted with gesso and added Shimmerz as well as a flourish piece cut from my Silhouette.
I hope you are all pink lovers and will give the challenge a go!
Thanks for popping by today.

SWEET HEART | WILD AT HEART | GWEN WRUCK

Hello creative friends,

Back today to share with you my very first layout using the divine ‘Wild at Heart’ collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio.  I so adore the pastel elements in this collection and I’ve teamed them with a black and white photo of my daughter.

This layout started with this sweet little background cut file called “Heart Background” from the Silhouette store which I cut from plain white card stock.  I just love how it looked over the top of the ‘Luscious’ paper; I think it really shows off that beautiful ombre effect.  I have also added some stitching detail for interest and to keep it in place.

I also really wanted to use lots of the pieces from the Ephemera pack, these are a must in any collection and this one is no exception. There are so many pieces all varying in size and they always include all of the icons in the range and so many beautiful things to finish out your layout.

I started with the larger elements such as the blue and white doily and the pink frame.  The other larger elements I have used are from the ‘Fussy Cuts’ page including the large butterfly and the text “you’re some kind of wonderful” which I’ve used as a bit of a sub-title for my page.

I’ve also added 2 smaller chipboard frames.  Once these larger elements were placed on the page I went back through the ephemera pack looking for smaller pieces.  I found the cute little ‘love’ ticket,  a cute tag, film strip and the die cut butterfly as well as the ‘TODAY” and “Sweet” sentiments.  I also couldn’t resist using two of the butterflies as well.

To round out the page I have added some chipboard pieces, a flair and those super sparkly enamel dots.  I couldn’t have my tag without a pretty bow so I’ve added one with twine from my stash and then thought I’d add two more pieces in circular shapes on either side of the photo to balance out the design.

The collection is in store now, be sure to check it all out!

Thanks for popping by today.

"You and Me" for D-lish Scraps

Hi Everyone,  Happy Friday to you all!

Back again to share another page with you, this time for D-lish Scraps AND it’s another pic from my 40th Birthday party.

The idea for this layout came from one of the December Cybercrop Challenges set by Anthea  – To use Circles + Wire.. remember this one?
Whilst I didn’t add the wire, I thought it was a great starting point for a layout, something to start the creative process flowing and I don’t normally use circles in my designs so it was fun to step out of my comfort zone a little.  So if you haven’t joined our great group on Facebook, The Scrap Suite – You really need to, so much inspiration and fun and prizes, yep prizes!!
So as you can see, lots and lots of circles in my background all punched out of some left over pattern paper.

I have then added some punched hearts and stitching details for interest.  I have also added a Shaped Wooden Button to finish off the circles in some places.  I have only just found these cute little Jewelled Cabochon Flowers aren’t they the sweetest!!   You can also see the Bitty Bow Clips which I love!!!

Here you can see how all the little pieces have worked together, I’ve added a Flair, wood beads and D-lish-Dots – Enamels, some super small hearts and the jewelled flowers all in a scattering around the page.

One more close up, this time you also get a glimpse of my paper layers, the Wood Veneer title and the butterfly Flair.

So I hope I’ve inspired you to give some of our challenges a go, step outside your comfort zone a little and I’m sure you will love the end result!

XOXO | LOVE ALWAYS | GWEN WRUCK

A big hello to you all, Gwen here today with another share for Cocoa Vanilla Studios using the divine ‘Love Always’ collection.  I will never get sick of the pastel shades in this line teaming them with black and white photos; this one of my husband and I on a recent (and rare) weekend away.

For this layout, I started with the off-cut/outline piece from the ‘XO’ Colour Me Happy Cut file which I had previously cut from a white sheet of card stock. I wanted to use the outline as a feature in my design.  I started by backing the cut file with the ‘Class Act’ paper; those dots are divine and I just loved how simple yet striking they were.  Next, I went about the task of hand stitching around the outline of each of the shapes.  I chose a soft pink thread to complement the pink chipboard elements I had planned to use later on.  This does take some time, but I feel the results are worth it!

The next step was to create my photo mat, adding paper layers from the ‘Note to Self’ and ‘Twin Set’ papers and then adding more hand stitching around the edge of my photo for extra detail.

To round out the design, I have used a few chipboard frames.  The first I chose was a perfect fit for the “This Makes me so Happy” element, which I have used as a bit of a sub title for the page.  This has been cut from the ‘Lovely Things’ paper.  The others I chose for their varying size and colours to help round out the design.  I love working with square photos, so adding the frames (which generally are also square) really pulls the design together.

Of course, I wanted to add some other smaller elements for interest; the Bits and Pieces pack and the Die Cut ephemera elements were perfect – you get so many elements in these and in lots of sizes too which is fab.

What better way to finish the page than with the sparkly Enamel Dots, cannot get enough of these and they are in the most perfect colours with a pretty sparkle to them.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the details of my latest layout and it has inspired you to get creative with some of the beautiful Cocoa Vanilla Studios products, there is so much to choose from and it is all divine!!

Thanks for popping by today,
Gwen
