Hi Creative Friends,
Thanks for popping by today. I have a new layout to share with you. I’ve used one of our older files that I’ve been meaning to use for some time to document a sweet photo of my daughter and hubby. It’s a background cut file so this one came together in no time at all.
Here is the cut file I’ve used – you can find the custom cut version here:
This design is a background cut file and for this page, I had the idea to run it off of the left-hand side of my page. Normally I would perhaps centre this style of cut, but for something different, I worked my design from the left-hand side towards the centre of the page. I also had in mind right from the beginning for the file to work as a background layer, tone on tone. I love white on white, it’s such a simple yet stunning effect.
Once I was happy with the cut files position, I glued it straight onto my page, making sure to only glue the centres of the flowers. I love how the edges of the flowers stick up slightly creating a shadow on the page. You get the sense of dimension and layers without any bulk. This technique is perfect if you are not too confident in backing cut files or want to put a page together really quickly, no messy mixed media, no fussy cutting, just position and glue!
I then took some scraps from my stash to create my photo mat. Lots of layers here and some stitching added around my photo for extra detail. Then it was a matter of filling the design in with some pretty embellishments.
I’ve kept to a very simplified colour palette for this one, black white and pink with just a hint of green from the leaves of the flowers. I’ve created my main cluster to the right of my photo and then a ‘supporting’ cluster of sorts along the left-hand side edge. A few word sentiments and this page was done.
I hope this page inspires you to use a cut file white on white, tone on tone. As I mentioned before, I do really love this look and it is ohh so simple to create. Be sure to share your page on our Facebook page, link below.
