"Seriously Gorgeous" for D-lish Scraps
Hi Creative friends,
I’m back on the blog today to share another sweet page for D-lish Scraps of Miss C. I am totally crushing on this photo, so serious!! We were doing a bit of a photo shoot as she had just gotten new glasses so I took a stack of photos and by the time this one was taken she had had enough and was starting to pull faces!!! As it turns out, this one is one of my favourites!
I went with a relatively simple design for the page with a white background and pops of colours with some splatters. I purchased these AMAZING new super shimmery Colour Simmer cubes Watercolours from Colour Blast at the Scrapbook Expo and I so love them!! I’ve used Blush, Lipstick and Envy on this layout. I combined these with some mists from my stash and love the result.
SWEET SPRING DAYS | ENDLESS SUMMER | GWEN WRUCK
Hello creative friends,
I’ve rested up after that fab long weekend at the Scrapbook and Paper Craft Expo and I’m back for another Cocoa Vanilla Studios share today.
For this layout, I wanted to document a little weekend trip we recently took down the coast to go Glamping! For those of you who have not heard of the term, it is simply Glamourous Camping and I am certainly not a camper gal but was pleasantly surprised at how fun and comfortable these glamping tents were!!
This layout came together pretty quickly for me and surprisingly began with the photo and that cute little flag I have popped onto the top of the tent. It is very rare that I would start a layout in this way, but it was the perfect fit and I just love how cute it looks there. I then went about stitching around the photo to make it pop.
Next, I went about my usual process of creating the background, the Endless Summer collection seemed like the perfect fit and I was immediately drawn to the Blue Skies paper and those cute clouds. For the lower section, I went with the Aloha paper which was the perfect neutral to ground my paper layers and photo mat.
Once I had sorted out my title and subtitle placement, I then went about adding a bunch of elements around my photo. I began with the larger elements such as the “Hello Sunshine” circle cut from the This and That paper and mounted on foam. The blooms for this collection are super pretty too; I went with this neutral one.
I then went on to add the florals from the Die Cut Ephemera pack and other circle elements including my favourite the woodies. A few people asked me about these at the craft show recently and yes, they are quite thick but to remove some of the dimension, I remove the foam mount that they come on and glue down with a liquid adhesive. I love their dimension and the soft wooden colour.
Lastly, I pulled out the cloud elements from the Wood Veneer and Die Cut Ephemera packs and added them to the top part of the layout, I felt this really helped balance out the design as before these were placed, it was very bottom heavy.
The Scrapbook Expo 2017 Recap
A big hello from me today!!
I am still a little delirious from a massive weekend at the Scrapbook & Paper Craft Expo but I really wanted to pop in and say a huge thank you to all of you who came along and supported me and Cocoa Vanilla Studios.
It has been an incredible 4 days of meeting you all, helping you shop and a special shout out to the lovely ladies who booked into my class.
I did call in a favour and asked Chris from Chris Wruck Photography to come up on Saturday and take some shots of my display so grab a cuppa because he went all out and took a stack of shots for you all, so I could share all the details. The perks of having your own personal pro-photographer! #loveyousweets
"Happy Heart" for D-lish Scraps
Hi Everyone,
Hope you are all having a fun-filled day! Here to share my latest page for D-lish Scraps and I hope you all have your sunglasses handy!!
The idea for this page came from a visit to the hardware store to look for paint swatches. I was looking through a flyer and saw a swatch of many colours lined up all on one page and thought I could re-create that on the background of a layout in water colours. I will admit, my initial thought was NOT for it to be so bright, I was thinking pastel watercolours in rows – but the colours turned out way more saturated than expected!! Yes, I did think of adding a sheet of vellum over the whole lot to tone it back but decided to go with it, and just add some coloured pencil over the top to soften just a little. It is nice to get out of your comfort zone every once in a while and try out something new!
