FUN IN THE SUN | SUNKISSED | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative friends,

I’m back on the blog today with a new share for Cocoa Vanilla Studio featuring the ‘Sunkissed‘ collection.  For this layout, I thought it would be fun to pull out some of my metal dies and my Sizzix machine.  I’ve cut out a bunch of floral elements to create a fun background for my layout.

To begin the page, I’ve die-cut out a stack of floral elements from the ‘Feeling Fine‘ pattern paper.  I love this pattern paper as it has a mixed media look about it, without the mess and warping that comes with making one myself.  All that hard work is done 🙂  I’ve also used this paper as the border for my page with my background being a pink piece of cardstock from my stash.

For the die-cut florals, I have three different sizes to work with and have just arranged them onto the background of my page randomly.  No real method for this, I was just careful to spread out the colours in the pattern paper evenly.

Next, I’ve backed my 4×4 photo also using this pattern paper.  I’ve added stitching around the edge and around the edge of my page for added detail.

For my embellishments, I’ve created the main cluster to the left of my photo which also includes my title ‘Fun in the Sun’.  This title piece and this darling rainbow are from the ‘Ephemera Pack‘.    You will also find the fun flag that says ‘Hello’ in this pack and loads of other super fun Summer themed icons.  I’ve also added bright florals in yellow and blue from the ‘Floral Ephemera pack‘.

For some dimension, I’ve included several of the ‘Wood Epoxy Buttons‘, I just love the soft wood tone in these, they are so fun to add to a page.  You can also see here a few elements from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet‘ including the sticker above my photo that says ‘Summer Days’ and the typed sentiment sticker below my photo that says ‘Holiday Highlights’.

To finish off the page, I’ve added Enamel Dots from my stash into the centre of each of the flowers and then added some small puffy sticker hearts from the ‘Puffy Sticker sheet‘.

I’ve also made a YouTube video where you can see my process.  You can watch it here:

Until next time,

GO SEE DO | SUNKISSED | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative Friends,

I’m back on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today with a new share featuring the ‘Sunkissed‘ collection.  Today I’m documenting a recent family outdoor adventure on a weekend away and what better collection to do that with than this one!  I just love its outdoor feel and the bright happy colours, it’s perfect for all kinds of adventures.

To begin my page I’ve created the background using the ‘Just Chillin‘ pattern paper.  For this page, I’ve used the A and B side of this design, so be sure to grab a couple for your stash.  The B-side is the woodgrain and the A-side features sweet puffy clouds.  I was so drawn to use the clouds as my background of my layout, they are the cutest! and I just wanted something really fun, bright and happy for this page.

Next up, I’ve backed a cut file title design, this one from CUT to YOU called ‘TN Go See Do‘.

For this, I’ve used the ‘A5 Paper Stack‘ and chosen one of the exclusive patterns which you can see above, it’s that striking blue pattern.  This design is only available in the A5 paper stack.  I’ve teamed it with a similar pattern in the pink but this time I’ve used the ‘Growing Wild‘ 12 x 12 pattern paper.  You can see above the difference in the size of the print.  I find it fun to mix and match papers in the A5 paper stack format with the regular 12 x 12 sheets.

I’ve also backed my photos using the A5 Paper Stack and added my signature stitching for extra detail.  I’ve then positioned my photos and bold title centred on the page.  The photos are flat on the background, but I have raised up the title here with some foam tape.

Now it’s time to embellish!  For this, I’ve started with the ‘Die Cut Floral Ephemera‘ and ‘Die Cut Ephemera‘ packs.  Both include super fun elements to add to my page.  I’ve just mixed and matched and auditioned everything until I was happy with the placement.  I decided on a couple of small clusters for this page, it didn’t need too much extra given I’ve used two photos and the large title piece.

Next, I’ve included some elements from the ‘Puffy Stickers‘ pack as well as a couple of ‘Wood Epoxy Buttons‘.  Both of these are fab ways to add texture and interest to your page, I love the sweet elements in these packs.

Lastly, I’ve added some of the typed sentiments from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet‘ in the collection.  I like to add these with foam tape for a little more dimension.  They are a great way to help support your photos and help tell your story.

Thanks so much for popping by today, I hope my page has inspired you in some way.  I also have a YouTube process video showing you how I’ve created this page which you can watch here:

SO SWEET | HAPPINESS | GWEN WRUCK

Hey Creative Friends,

I’m back today with a new share for Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I’m stash busting again for this one and using the ‘Happiness‘ collection.  I’m scrapbooking these two sweet photos of my husband and daughter taken a few years back, they were taken as part of a mini photo-shoot we had for my birthday and I just adore this very sweet little moment between the two of them.

To begin my page, I’ve used the ‘Expressive‘ pattern paper to create a frame for the edge of my layout, I’ve added plain pink cardstock to the center from my stash. I’ve then cut out two of the ‘Floral Note Card‘ cut file designs by CUT to YOU. I’ve used sections of the ‘Expressive‘ pattern paper to back just floral parts of the design, keeping the notecard part open.

I’ve then layered these two elements down the centre of my page. I wanted to create the look of two frames with the design, rather than the look of the note paper.

For my photos, I’ve backed them with the ‘Frame of mind’ pattern paper, making sure to pull from the blue area on that paper. I’ve added stitching around the edge of my photo and raised it up on foam for dimension. I’ve also pulled a paper doily from my stash and added that behind as a soft layer. You can also see here that I’ve taken a piece of the ‘So Fresh‘ pattern paper and created a banner piece to layer behind my photo as well.

Next, it was time for some fussy cutting. I’ve cut several of the navy butterflies from the ‘Bright and Beautiful‘ pattern paper to position around my page. I’m using the navy butterflies here because I want to use a title from the ‘Die Cut Titles’ pack. These titles are all in a deep navy tone so the butterflies help to balance out the colour in the title around the page.

I’ve also included elements from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack and a ‘Flair Button’, as well as a couple of the typed sentiments from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet’. The final touches for the page include a sweet bow cut from the ‘Expressive‘ pattern paper using a die from my stash and some sequins also from my stash of supplies.

Thanks for popping by today, I hope you enjoyed my share and it inspires you to use up your stash of the ‘Happiness’ collection. You can still shop some elements from this one in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio shop here.

I’ve also created a YouTube video of my process for this one, you can watch it here:

LOVE THIS LIFE | CUT TO YOU

Hi Creative friends,

I’m back on the blog today with some more Scrapbooking inspiration. For today’s share, I’m featuring a new CUT to YOU floral design and a sweet photo of my Miss 13 on her birthday.

To begin the page, I started with the ‘Spring Floral Edge‘ cut file which I’ve cut nice and large using white cardstock. I’ve backed it with the soft peach tones in the Crate Paper ‘Fresh Bouquet’ collection and for something different, I’ve used a grey and pink print to back the leaves in the cut file design.

Once the cut file was all backed, I positioned it onto my page. For the background of this layout, I’ve gone with a deep navy print from the collection. I love adding cut files onto a dark background, it really helps them to pop!

Next, I’ve positioned my photo, I’ve backed it with grey pattern paper and then raised it onto foam for dimension. It sits along the left-hand edge of the cut file. I’m using the design as a base for my page. It is guiding the layout of the page and will really help the flow of the design.

With the photo in place, I’m now going to add in my embellishments starting with the main cluster beside the bottom left hand corner of the photo.

For my layout title, I’ve gone with this chipboard piece that says ‘Love this Life’. I have several photos from this event so it wasn’t necessary for me to have anything specific. I’ll also add journalling to the back of my page as well.

For the other embellishment clusters, I’ve let the cut file design guide their placement. I am keeping them all running down the right-hand side of my page on top of the cut file. For this layout, I really want the eye to flow top to bottom. You’ll even notice my photo is portrait (not landscape) to help keep in the flow of the page.

I’ve finished the layout off with some gold elements including the photo corners and some pretty gold hearts from my stash.

You can also see how I’ve created the page below. If you like the way that I scrapbook OR the way that I chat about the way that I scrapbook, be sure to give my video a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel, that way you won’t miss any of my upcoming videos. This support helps me so so much! xo

I hope you enjoyed seeing this page come together,

EASTER MORNING | SUNKISSED | GWEN WRUCK

Hey Creative friends, I’m back on the blog today with some more inspiration using the Cocoa Vanilla Studio brand new ‘Sunkissed’ collection. This collection is Summer themed but today I’m using it to create an Easter-themed layout. This photo was taken of my daughter quite a few years back on Easter morning.

To begin the page, I’ve created a frame for my background using the ‘Growing Wild’ pattern paper. I’ve used a piece of white card stock from my stash and then sewn around the edge with a pastel blue thread. I’ve also taken the time here to fussy cut out all of the floral elements from the inner part of the paper and will keep those for use in future layouts.

Next up, I’ve backed my cut file; this one is called ‘Easter Basket‘ and is from CUT to YOU. I’m using the ‘Summer Lights’ pattern paper for the basket and ‘Good Vibrations’ for the eggs. I’ve also added in paper from the Paper Pad for the egg details as well as the photo mat. Be sure to check out the paper pad as it has some exclusive patterns in it which are not available in the 12 x 12 pattern paper sheets.

I’ve positioned my photo on the left of the layout and then created two floral clusters. The first cluster is quite small and sits above my photo, the second will be the main cluster and sits to the right of my photo. These two clusters are made up of the fussy cut florals from the ‘Growing Wild’ pattern paper as well as die-cut pieces from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack. I’ve also added elements from the ‘Puffy Stickers’ sheet.

I’ve positioned my title down the bottom of my page under my photo. For this, I’ve used Thickers from my stash. I really wanted to use the title stickers in the collection but nothing fit quite right simply because this is a Summer-themed collection which I’m using to make an Easter-themed page. Be sure to check out the ‘Foam Title Stickers’ in this line, they are super sparkly and gorgeous and you will definitely want them for documenting Summer.

For more interest on my page, I’ve added in two of the ‘Wood Buttons’ as well as elements from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet’.

I’ve finished the layout off my adding in some of the small heart die cuts and a couple of die cut tabs from the ‘Ephemera Die Cut’ pack.

I’ve also made a YouTube video of my process so you can see how this all came together which you can watch below. If you enjoy the video, feel free to subscribe to the channel so you don’t miss future Scrapbooking layout processes. I make around one each week.

Thanks for popping by today,
