July sketch for Scrap Friends

Hi Everyone,
It’s July and winter is well and truly here.  With all the rain around last week I was certainly happy to snuggle up in my craft room until the wee hours and create.  If you are looking for some inspiration the July sketch challenge is now up at Scrap Friends 🙂  The winner gets a Scrap Friends voucher!
Here is the sketch – just love the details:
and here is my take.  It features my sister and I.   We don’t have very many photos at all together so on Mother’s Day this year I made sure Chris took some… we look alike don’t we!!
Close ups first with all the pretty details:
and the full layout…
I thought I’d also share a step by step for this layout – I’m going to do more of these for you all. The photos are a bit dark and I’m not that happy with them as they were taken quite late at night – which is when I normally do my scrapping!!  Happy days though, I have just purchased a super dooper light tent!!!  So I can take photos any time of the day or night with more consistent and better results Wooo Hooo!!  Will share more as soon as I can! With this in mind, please note:  The colour in the first shots and close ups is much truer to the layout as I have taken these during the day when there was lots of natural light.
Step One:  Apply a nice thick layer of Gesso mixed with Impasto medium – I love the dimension this adds.
Step Two:  Add some paper layers – I’ve gone with more of a square shape rather than rectangle as the sketch had square photos.
Step Three:  Add in photos and more paper layers – some fussy cut flowers too.  I’ve mixed up the sketch a little by switching 2 smaller photos for the one at the top.  I wanted to include both of these happy snaps – my sister and I were messing around which is quite normal for us!
Step Four:  Add all the bits and pieces.. Tags, flowers, brads and butterflies.  I added my title and journalling last.
Hope you enjoy seeing how I put my page together and well done for getting this far!!

Star Dad

Hello, Hello, Happy day to you!

A Purple Pumpkin share for you today, using one of my most fav colour combos Navy, White and Red, I just love using this combo on boy layouts… I even love it when Chris wears Red and Navy, it so suits him!

Close ups first… yummy Purple pumpkin, flower, button topper and spotty buttons…

A heart button and lollipop flower too….
I sprayed the paper with water then scrunched the top layer of paper up and “shoved” a spotty button underneath, teamed it with a funky brad and a hand cut star from the pattern paper to create this cute cluster.  I’ve been doing this a bit lately, it makes the layouts more dimensional which is a bit of problem with storage, but I really love the look so I’m rolling with it!!
and the full layout… Super happy because I even took the photo for this one on a recent trip to Mt Tambourine – it is so nice now that Caitlin is a little older and can actually go for a Rainforest walk.  She is pretty good until the walk back up the hill!!
and while I had the red and white out, I whipped up this card too….  I have centred a heart button on top of a washi tape flower I made – I’ve been doing these a bit too lately, they turn out pretty funky!  Sentiment is a SRM sticker layered ontop of some wide gross-grain ribbon and I made an effort to use one of my embossing folders too!
thanks for popping by today and sharing the love!

Step by Step for Scrap Friends – June

Hi there
Quick share today of a layout and step by step I have done for Scrap Friends which shares some tips on how I use sketches and shows you how I put my pages together.  Pop over to the blog to check it out!  You can also see all the bits and pieces I’ve used and get them on-line; lots of yummy new Bo Bunny 🙂
and while I had the left overs on my scrap desk, I whipped up this cute little card.
Ribbon is Scallop Edge Organza with Grossgrain over the top – I think my current fav, I’m putting it on everything right now!!
Sentiment is not a stamp but Collections greetings and Nicole has a stack of Collections stuff in store, these are so quick and easy to use, and fool proof, hence why I like them hehe!
and lucky last a quick layout I did for a little challenge a group some scrappy buddies made up… thank you Miss Annette!  Criteria was “White, with green and pink plus a touch of black”

I have used some delicious Manor House flowers *sigh* love these, and heaps of pretties from Craft Queen.
Only a couple of close ups for this one:
Paper is “Pretty Party” by Crate Paper… so so sweet.  I got a huge kit of it from Scrapbook Savy, and have been itching to have a play.
It was so much fun to do a challenge “just because”; it has been a while.
Hope you are all having a FAB day and get some time to create – I have a late night planned 🙂
thanks
Gwen

Girly Girl

Happy Friday Everyone!! Woot Woot, My most fav day of the week.
A couple of quick projects to share featuring yummy Purple Pumpkin…
I have “roughed up” my denim and pink flower and added Gesso then switched up the centre button for a spotty button.  I’ve added some twine and 2 more 1″ buttons to round out the cluster.
These heart buttons are so cute, this one I have simply added to the centre of a butterfly to create a feature.
and the full layout, no sun glasses required 🙂
I also added a cute Purple Pumpkin resin flower to the centre of the 2nd butterfly and the brightest doilies I could find in my stash – these ones are Craft Queen.  I think this has to be the brightest layout I’ve ever done!!
I also have a quick card to share I created for a dear friend…
Now those are more my colours!! 🙂
