Scrapbook Convention Haul

Well hello there,

Today I am feeling EXHAUSTED, but very Happy 🙂  My feet are aching but it was so so worth it.

Yesterday was the Brissy Scrapbook Papercraft Convention and I had the best day.  Highlights were: the Manor House stand, meeting Nerrida and Karen Shady,  finally meeting Kim Ewins and Liz Weber who are on the Craft Queen DT with me, oh yeah, and the Craft Queen stand – best in show!!  So, great to see Nicole again too.  I also met a dear blogger friend Lizzy for the first time, she has been following my blog forever 🙂 also saw another dear scrappy friend Cindy and so great to also meet Stacey Apps who is on the Purple Pumpkin DT with me.  I also had chat and shop with Tracy from My2Angels and I did a fab class with the lovely Sonia Thomason using new and very yummy scrapmatts and yes, I did also see Tim – twice.

Low lights, the line for the ladies (surprise, surprise) and paying $6 for a Egg and lettuce sandwich for lunch oh yeah and the $21 car park charge! but all in all a FAB day!!

My Everything

Hi Everyone,
A rare layout of my hubby to share today.  He is usually the one behind the camera so when we recently went on a mountain walk and I made a special effort to grab the camera and get a shot of him.
Close ups first…
Ohhh so happy with the background on this layout… I’m not sure if you can see the stickers there under the Gesso – in the photo above they say “love” and “family”.
I’ve had these FOREVER, (like 9 years) and am really trying hard to use up some older stuff and I came up with the idea to stick them down in patches and then Gesso over, and I really like how they turned out. There are some more in the top right hand side cluster as well.
The felt flowers are super old as well, that’s 2 new things I can buy at the show!!
and I’ve been doing this a bit of late – just shoving some twine or ribbon under the photo or paper layer.  Adds another layer and some dimension.
The full layout.. doesn’t he look handsome 🙂
Thanks for visiting and for your comments, they are very much appreciated – I do keep my eyes out for them!!

June sketch for Scrap Friends

Hi there eveyone,
I love how busy the start of the month is with all the new challenges, they are always keeping me inspired!   I am getting super excited as we are only a handfull of sleeps away from the June craft show in Brisbane!!! YEAH!!!
Very excited to share with you the new sketch for Scrap Friends, which is up on the blog now.
For my take, I have flipped it totally upside down.  I loved the idea of having my title on the bottom part of the page and all my embellies coming from the base of my photos.  I have also adjusted it to fit 2 photos, but keeping with the sketch put some pattern paper in place of the 3rd photo.

Close ups – so many yummy goodies here, all available at Scrap Friends.

and the full shot… I just love the colours in this and the back and white photo combo.
Pop on over to the blog and say Hi, check out the other DT inspiration and why not give it a go 🙂

June sketch at Purple Pumpkin

Happy 1st of the month to you all – I can’t believe it is June!
I’ve been itching to show you my latest layout using the new challenge sketch for Purple Pumpkin.  The DT have done an amazing job this month to show you just how versatile a sketch can be (They really are a fab bunch) – Be sure to check it out here.
So, this is the sketch:
I flipped it as it better suited my photo – here is my take:
and some close ups…
While the design for the layout was certainly inspired by the sketch, the colours were inspired by the fab large flower and I thought I’d share today a lil tutorial on how I alter them for my layouts…. Please do not mind the photos, those that know me will know I scrap between 8pm and midnight so they are not the best “colour” wise.
Step One – Choose your flower, I just love the Red and Navy combo.  I tired to show you in this photo just how flat they are before beginning.

Step Two – Time to get rough…. Start by gently roughing up and fraying the edges of the petals, I also scrunch the whole flower and roll it between my hands, you have to be gentle but also not afraid to rough it up a little.  I find the less you think about it, the better the result.

Step Three – Grab a little Gesso and dab on the edges of the flower.  I also like to put some into the palm of my hand and then scrunch the flower into it  – you want an uneven coverage… This bit is messy but fun!

and lucky last, to finish it off, I swapped up the centre button for a small Purple Pumpkin spotty button.

and voilà there you have it!

I hope you all get the chance to play along this month, the winner gets a fab PP prize pack!
